最後的謝幕

《第九號交響曲》是貝多芬完成的最後一部交響曲，也是古典音樂中最為人所熟知的作品之一，並以「合唱」這個副標聞名。


這首交響曲的首演大獲成功，當時演出的小提琴樂手描述貝多芬:「...他好像想演奏所有的樂器，為整個合唱團歌唱...」另外劇院的樂評描述：「觀眾起立達五次之多，空中飛舞著手帕、帽子。」


據稱貝多芬的速度比樂隊要慢，所以最後是女低音將他扶轉過身來，才看見了這一盛況。


當時人們對皇室最高成員的敬禮，也不過要三次；為這首曲子站立五次被認爲是很不妥當的。甚至連警察都來維持秩序，企圖制止觀眾不斷地起立。
