STRAIGHT ON TILL MORNING` – Grades 4-5
“Second star to the right and straight on ’till morning…”. These are the words famously spoken by Peter Pan as the Darling children prepare to fly out of their bedroom window towards Neverland. The opening exudes adventure, excitement, exploration, and discovery.
SHADOW PLAY – Grade 3-4
Peter Pan visited the Darling household to listen to Wendy’s adventure stories. Nana – the family dog – barked at the intruder and as Peter escaped, his shadow was captured. The following night, Peter and Tinker Bell returned to try and retrieve it. In this piece, the left hand depicts Peter and the right, his shadow. They chase each other around, nearly coming together at points before eventually reuniting on the final chord of D major.
WENDYBIRD – Grade 4
Wendy’s love for Peter and Neverland manifested itself in a desire to stay young forever – a dream that was nearly realised when she and her brothers embarked on a fantastical adventure with Peter Pan. Tinker Bell tells the Lost Boys that Wendy, who is flying in the clouds, is in fact a Wendybird!
TIC TOC THE CROC – Duet for all grade
The Crocodile (Tic-Toc) is one of Captain Hook’s greatest fears. In a duel with Peter Pan, Hook’s hand is cut off and fed to Tic-Toc as a snack. The Crocodile continues to follow him around in the hope that she will be able to eat the rest of him. Having also swallowed a clock, the Croc gives off a tell-tale ticking sound as she approaches. BLUE LAGOON – Grade 3
The mermaids are one of the mystical characters that inhabit the magical island of Neverland. Like most of those on the island, their only fear is of Captain Hook. They are all romantically infatuated with Peter Pan who visits the Lagoon often to entertain them with his adventure stories
CUT TO THE CHASE – Grade 4
The first view of Neverland after the Darling children leave the nursery is of a perpetual chase: the boys are looking for Peter, the pirates are chasing the boys, the Native Americans are chasing the pirates, as are the animals. You can try to play this piece even faster if you dare!
MAROONER’S ROCK (TIGER LILY) – Grade 3
This piece depicts the scene where Tiger Lily, the daughter of the Chief (Great Big Little Panther), is captured by the Pirates and left to drown on Marooner’s Rock – before eventually being rescued by Peter Pan.
HOOKS’ HORNPIPE – Grade 5
Captain Hook, whose right hand was cut off in a duel, is Peter Pan’s arch-enemy. Hook’s crew, including Smee and Starkey, also consider him a foe. His two principal fears are the sight of his own blood and the crocodile that continues to pursue him. This piece sees the ship, the Jolly Roger with its captain and crew, setting off on the high seas to cause havoc to one and all!
SMEE – Grade 4
Mr. Smee is Captain Hook’s bo’sun and is an oddly genial man for a pirate. He is a kind-hearted character whose ultimate agenda focuses on keeping the peace and some stability in Hook’s life – a simple soul who wants everybody to stop fighting and be friends.
TINK – Duet for all grades
Tinker Bell is Peter Pan’s feisty fairy friend with the power to enable others to fly by sprinkling them with fairy dust. She may only be a few inches tall but her powers make her a helpful companion to Peter on his many adventures. Tinker Bell is less enthusiastic about new friends and this piece depicts the mischievous side to her personality.
LOST BOYS BLUES – Grade 3
The Lost Boys are a group of ragtag young lads led by Peter Pan in Neverland. They are often cheeky, ill-behaved and they enjoy the freedom that their adult-free lifestyle affords them.
